General Maintenance Worker (UN)

Location: Fort Gordon, GA 30905 – Full-time, $31.98/hr

About the role

We are looking for a reliable, skilled maintenance worker to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout the facility. This position will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning. Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential, as the ideal candidate will have significant work experience and solid technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor fixes, such as replacing ceiling tiles, repairing damage to walls, and changing lightbulbs
• Install necessary equipment as needed
• Check system controls and critical systems, logging information as required
• Complete minor adjustments as needed
• Perform necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, and trash removal
• Complete regular maintenance tasks, including Preventative Maintenance work requests
• Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems
• Test the functionality of the facility’s safety systems
• Report to facilities or maintenance manager regarding issues resolved and those needing attention
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position, preferably in a corporate setting
• Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• General passion for creative problem-solving
• Must be able to successfully pass a federal, state, or local government background investigation

Work Environment

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop, and kneel for short periods
• Must be able to climb a ladder and stand for long periods of time with constant arm extensions
• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable
• May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
