General Maintenance Worker I (Laborer)
About the role
Tessera is seeking a motivated General Maintenance Worker (GMW) to assist with the upkeep and repair of facilities for WSBOSC.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for a variety of tasks, which may include applying touch-up paint, caulking, replacing floor and ceiling tile, replacing electrical outlets, switching covers and bulbs, repairing/replacing door hardware, cleaning roof drains and gutters.
- Aid skilled workers in performing various electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or masonry work.
- Maintain and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Communicate and interact directly with the customer and supervisors, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.
- Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customers and supervisors.
- Communicate with the scheduler to update the status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- 0-3 years in general maintenance/closely related field.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to work in a variety of different environments, including high places.
- Good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, physical fitness, and a good sense of balance.
Requirements
- A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
- Background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
