General Maintenance Worker/Driver

About the role

Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, established in 1902, is a serene resting place where families honor loved ones amid natural beauty. We care for the grounds so families can find peace, and we guide them through every step of the process. We are seeking General Maintenance Workers to maintain the grounds and assist with burial preparations and services. This is a seasonal/temporary position beginning on or around March 2026.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and clean debris, weeds, and other maintenance items (soil, snow, leaves, etc.)
• Perform gardening and landscaping tasks throughout the cemetery
• Operate equipment such as tampers, jackhammers, bronze trimmers, and other heavy machinery as needed
• Lift and move bronze memorials, cement foundations, sod, plywood, and other materials
• Carry caskets during internments and entombments as required

Requirements

• Willing and able to work weekends
• Possess a valid, unexpired driver’s license
• Ability to comprehend and communicate effectively in English
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to remain on feet for continuous periods
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
• Ability to walk considerable distances during work shifts
• Ability to lift, raise, and lower objects between levels
• Ability to pull, push, and carry heavy loads (50–100 lbs.) at any time

Pay

$28.76 per hour
