About The Role
The General Maintenance role in our 110 Engineering department is an hourly, full-time position responsible for the upkeep, repair, and safe operation of facility systems, equipment, and infrastructure. This role supports day-to-day operations by performing routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues, and responding to work orders in a timely and professional manner. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, and able to work independently or as part of a team to maintain a clean, functional, and efficient environment.
What You'll Do
- Perform general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facility systems, equipment, and building structures (interior and exterior).
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and basic electrical systems as directed.
- Respond to maintenance work orders, service calls, and emergency requests promptly and professionally.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with equipment, fixtures, and building components, recommending repair or replacement as needed.
- Perform basic carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and minor flooring repairs to maintain facility appearance and functionality.
- Aid with maintenance and repair of doors, locks, hardware, windows, and other fixtures.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other maintenance equipment safely and correctly.
- Follow established maintenance schedules, document work performed, and maintain accurate records in maintenance systems or logs.
- Support vendors and contractors on-site, ensuring work is completed safely and according to specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including shop, storage, and mechanical rooms.
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with other team members in the 110 Engineering department to complete projects and meet operational goals.
- Participate in on-call rotation, overtime, or shift work as required to support 24/7 facility operations.
- Assist with special projects, equipment installations, and facility improvements as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Previous experience in general maintenance, building maintenance, facilities, or a related trade role.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems and how they operate within a facility.
- Proficiency with common hand tools and power tools, and ability to use them safely.
- Ability to read and follow basic work orders, safety instructions, and equipment manuals in English.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, practical approach.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work with minimal supervision.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb ladders, and lift/push/pull materials and equipment as required by the job.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
- Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, vendors, and other departments.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, if required for site travel or equipment operation.
