General Maintenance (3rd Shift)

This position is responsible for industrial maintenance duties on equipment, machinery, building, and grounds. Work includes machine installation and construction, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment
- Remove defective parts by dismantling machines or components using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools
- Diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs to safely return equipment to acceptable operating condition
- Perform planned maintenance activities, such as cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery or plant equipment, as well as installing electrical equipment
- Work on hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electronic components, including replacing AC and DC motors
- Operate, use, and perform MIG and Arc welding as necessary
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools
- Foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures to eliminate risk to health and the environment; notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices
- Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately
- Participate in peer-based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S
- Participate on project teams, star point teams, and kaizen events when needed
- Attend and participate in all training opportunities required to develop in the role
Requirements
- 2-year technical degree in electrical field or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in manufacturing preferred
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Sound decision-making skills
- Good math, reading, and writing skills
- Ability to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention for reading information and performing job tasks
- Basic computer skills
- Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks
- Ability to operate material handling equipment and hoist, if needed
- Must successfully complete pre-employment screening

- Ability to work well in a team environment
- High degree of manual dexterity, potentially performed under restrictive conditions
- Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate material handling equipment
- Ability to perform work in hot and cold temperatures, including outdoor work
- Ability to work at heights above ground-level
Working Conditions
- High noise levels from operating machines and equipment
- Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels
- Exposure to nuisance fumes and odorous dust
- Work in areas requiring safety equipment (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high visibility clothing)
- Standing required for extended periods; regular walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting
- Flexible hours and short notice for overtime
Organizational Relationships
Report directly to Facilities Specialist. Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with processes and equipment.
