General Liability Associate

About the Role

Our client, an established national law firm with a strong reputation in litigation, insurance defense, and business-related legal services, is seeking an experienced General Liability Associate Attorney to join their Woodbury, NY office. The firm represents insurance carriers, businesses, and other clients across a variety of complex litigation matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage general liability defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.
• Handle discovery, case evaluations, and settlement negotiations.
• Attend court appearances, conferences, mediations, and other proceedings as needed.
• Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel.
• Maintain case deadlines and manage multiple active matters.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active New York Bar admission.
• 5+ years of litigation experience.
• Strong general liability or insurance defense background.
• Substantive motion practice and deposition experience.
• Ability to manage litigation matters independently.
• Strong legal writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Woodbury five days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Premises liability defense.
• Construction accident litigation.
• New York Labor Law §§ 200, 240, and 241(6) experience.
• Insurance carrier representation and reporting.
• Experience managing cases through settlement or trial preparation.

Pay

$140,000 - $170,000 per year.
