About the Role
MMI is looking for a General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance team and help support the financial operations of our U.S. and Mexico facilities. Reporting to the Controller, the General Ledger Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, managing customer pricing, and contributing to continuous improvement within the Financial Department.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly cash disbursement for our Mexico operations with direction from Controller.
- Provide backup support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and billing activities.
- Own the day-to-day management of customer pricing within IQMS/DELMIAWorks.
- Manage employee credit card applications charges.
- Manage the company petty cash account.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Research and resolve discrepancies involving receiving, supplier invoices, freight charges, purchase orders, and inventory transactions.
- Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Verify proper approvals are obtained before tooling invoices are issued.
- Assist with month-end close and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly financial metrics and operational reports.
- Support standard costing and inventory analysis.
- Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal processes.
- Assist with additional account projects and departmental initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields preferred.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Manufacturing, inventory, or cost accounting experience is a plus.
- Intermediate Excel skills preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage confidential financial information with professionalism and integrity.
Work Environment and Expectations
- Office environment with occasional time spent on the warehouse and manufacturing floor - adhering to all company safety policies and use of PPE while on production floor.
- Additional hours may be required during month-end close or other critical reporting periods.
