GENERAL LABORER, T

Nature of Work

• Routine, limited, semi-skilled manual labor in the maintenance of City neighborhoods, grounds and facilities.
• Includes tasks such as:
• Cutting grass and weeds
• Raking grass and trash
• Trimming, cutting down, and removing trees and shrubs
• Digging and filling ditches
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Conditioning walls and woodwork prior to painting
• Conducting animal recovery, pickup, and disposal tasks
• Performing light to moderate (up to 50lbs) lifting as needed
• Occasionally lifting up to 80lbs
• Performing minor repairs to sewers, septic tanks, catch basins and manholes
• Driving a City vehicle not requiring a CDL
• Washing and steaming vehicles, tools, and equipment in the automotive shop

Essential Functions

This position is considered an "Essential Position" for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. This position requires 24 hours a day, 7 day per week availability during City of Miami emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, Emergency Manager, or City Officials.

Minimum Requirements

• Two (2) years experience in performing unskilled labor.
• Eighth grade education is preferred.

Special Requirements

• A valid driver's license from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) is required prior to appointment and must be maintained valid throughout employment.

Documentation Requirements

Veterans Preference
