Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor, including lifting 25+ lbs., bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in the heat.
- Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) or other material into construction area.
- Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix.
- Excavate and fill trenches and ditches.
- Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
- Handle and store materials.
- Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
- Follow proper safety and incident reporting procedures; bring problems to the attention of the Foreman or Safety personnel.
- Use equipment and tools properly and safely.
- Understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License and TWIC Card.
- 6+ months of experience in an industrial setting preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), walk and stand for long periods, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies in an industrial setting.
- Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Physical, Mental & Environmental Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach.
- May require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess sufficient visual, hearing, communication, and motor skills to safely perform job responsibilities.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
- Must exercise sound judgment, solve problems, maintain attention to detail, manage stress, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Work may be performed in industrial and construction environments with exposure to weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements.
- Must maintain a constant commitment to safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
