General Laborer

About the role

The Construction Laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at construction projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist other craft workers.

Essential Functions

• Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects;
• Prepares surfaces for paving by shoveling concrete (asphalt) into construction areas;
• Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards;
• Performs materials handling and storage;
• Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials;
• Operates Equipment.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Junior college or trade/vocation training preferred; Preferably in a construction environment;
• Must have OSHA required equipment certifications, or complete company offered training within 4 weeks of hire;
• The ideal candidates will be capable of working with minimal oversight but willing to follow directions closely;
• Able to work in extreme weather fluctuations;
• Able to lift 50+lbs;
• Must have two (2) Valid forms of ID;
• Must have reliable transportation;
• Must have a great work ethic;
• Construction experience a plus.

Working Conditions

• Normal on-site construction field work;
• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration;
• Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites;
• Typical Physical Needs: Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching;
• Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight;
• May need to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding and lift up to 70 lbs.
