About the role
Thompson Pipe Group is currently looking for a General Laborer. Starting pay ranges from $16.79 to $20.99 per hour, depending on tenure.
Responsibilities
- Assists with assigned responsibilities such as finishing, patching, building cages, and operating equipment.
- Lifts and carries materials and tools throughout work areas using appropriate equipment.
- Maintains neat and orderly work areas.
- Completes final finish on a poured concrete product, using power tools and hand tools.
- Aids in the install of plates, rebar, and wire, insulation, lifters, reveals, and taping and cutting strand.
- Burks, bags in blackouts, finishes exposed sides, and patches holes with fresh concrete.
- Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and uses a pressure washer and/or sandblasting equipment as needed.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures, paying special attention to health and safety.
- Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Brings problems to the attention of the Safety Team/Supervisor and reports any problems or discrepancies.
Requirements
- Must be able to follow instructions both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use hand tools and operate machinery safely.
- Pass the drug test and physical examination.
- Transition to UNION after 90 days of employment.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A background in construction, landscaping, or manufacturing is preferred, particularly precast concrete.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, stand, walk, and stoop throughout the day. Must be able to work with dust and outside environmental conditions.
- Teamwork Environment: Works in a team-oriented setting with occasional overtime and weekend availability.
Skills
- Strong manual dexterity and ability to use hand and power tools.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain neat work areas.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to health and safety standards.
