General Laborer

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect tanks for cosmetic defects.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Work in a team-oriented environment.
• Remove all weld spatter, burrs, and rust from pressure vessels using a scraper, chisel, hammer, or sander.
• Sand any repair areas and attachments of pressure vessels.
• If the vessel is to be shipped without paint, wipe the vessel with cleaner and remove stickers.
• Remove rough spots from work pieces using a portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
• Strip materials using steel shot, grit, aluminum oxide, or other agents.
• Read and interpret blueprints and finishing specifications related to finishing steel fabrication products.
• Blast the exterior of products to specific profiles.
• Use and maintain respiratory equipment properly.
• Replenish the abrasive hopper when necessary.
• Remove exhausted blasting agent from the blasting room.
• Use various safety equipment related to blasting applications.
• Perform material handling tasks, including the safe operation of cranes, hoists, and forklifts as needed, and complete any required training or safety programs.
• Properly complete applicable paperwork associated with this classification.
• Maintain knowledge of and compliance with all safety and environmental requirements regarding blasting agents, their application, and disposal.
• Maintain a clean and neat work area.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Follow all company policies.

Requirements

• Good oral communication skills.
• One year of experience in a similar environment or a minimum of one year of post-high school education in a related field.

• Ability to read and interpret receiving-related documents.
• Ability to write reports and correspondence related to receiving.
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Skills

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
