General Laborer

About the role

APAC-Atlantic, part of CRH’s South Division, produces high-quality hot and warm mix asphalt for the Coastal Georgia and Low Country South Carolina markets. The company aims to deliver projects on time and within budget, using proven materials and construction methods.

Responsibilities

• Prepares ground surfaces for the road building process.
• Removes debris from the construction path.
• Operates ground compactors, levels dirt, sets string markers, and removes items within the paving area.
• Sets up fencing, barricades, and safety cones to block off the work area.
• Prepares manhole covers, openings, and water lines.
• May insert risers as needed.
• Walks behind the paver machine to shovel and rake asphalt as it is applied.
• Levels out asphalt with a rake and uses a shovel to dig out manhole covers and water valve boxes.
• Cleans asphalt off tools and equipment after each work day.
• May assist with operating equipment as needed, including pavers, rollers, backhoes, water trucks, etc.
• Performs other laborer tasks as needed, such as cutting concrete or asphalt with a saw, sweeping, etc.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in construction or operating equipment is desired.
