General Laborer

About the role

The General Laborer supports the efficient flow of production within the metal building insulation operation by safely preparing and loading materials, operating equipment, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport raw materials (fiberglass insulation and facing) and finished laminated rolls to maintain continuous laminator production.
• Load and unload trucks and prepare shipments according to customer and carrier requirements.
• Stay informed on production schedules to ensure materials are staged and ready for production.
• Verify materials are delivered in the correct order, quantity, and specification to prevent production interruptions.
• Perform quality checks to ensure finished goods meet customer specifications.
• Accurately label, store, and maintain inventory records through physical counts and waste reporting.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
• Complete and document daily forklift safety inspections; report and assist in maintenance as needed.
• Ensure fiberglass insulation stacks are aligned and stable to prevent tipping hazards.
• Secure all loads safely before transport and follow designated traffic and storage patterns.
• Safely operate balers, trash compactors, band saws, and power tools.
• Assist Machine Operators in the safe and efficient operation of laminators.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas, aisles, and storage zones free from debris and waste.
• Support production and shipping personnel to ensure on-time order fulfillment.
• Handle hazardous or special materials under supervision and in accordance with safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision or management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling operations preferred.
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
• Familiarity with fiberglass insulation, facing materials, or metal building insulation manufacturing preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely perform duties in a production environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, organization, and productivity.

Work Environment & PPE

Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to fiberglass insulation materials and standard warehouse conditions.

• Required PPE: Safety glasses and OSHA-compliant safety-toed footwear must be worn at all times in production and warehouse areas.
• Optional PPE: Dust masks are available for use at the employee’s discretion.
• Hearing protection is not required in this environment.

Position requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
