General Laborer

Responsibilities

• Assist with general yard clean up/maintenance
• Absorb and cut steel banding for package securement
• Monitor disposal of items and railcar securement
• Work in adherence to all safe work practices, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency
• Establish or adjust daily tasks/schedules to meet changing order priorities
• Maintain fleet equipment (wash and paint equipment)
• Follow maintenance testing and repairs procedures of products
• Keep yard and equipment neat and organized
• Provide internal and external customer service excellence
• Cross train on other functions at the reload
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

Requirements

• Can carry at least 50 lbs and swing a 10 lbs sledge hammer
• Forklift operation is an asset
• Good physical condition
• Ability to climb ladders, throw rail cables, and lift 50 lbs
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, heat, wind)
• Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Experience working with computers is an asset

Qualifications

• Previous general laborer experience is an asset
