Responsibilities
- Provide flexible operational support across the facility by filling in for absent personnel or unassigned roles as needed.
- Perform a variety of production tasks primarily within the lower end of the mill, supporting copper and copper alloy processing operations.
- Operate equipment and perform duties such as Operator, Helper, Inspector, and slitter operator.
- Safely operate mobile and heavy equipment as required.
- Execute physically demanding tasks, including heavy manual labor in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Load, move, and handle raw materials and byproducts such as gravel, scrap, or metal chips.
- Perform job duties that may require bending, lifting, carrying, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at elevated heights.
- Transition into assigned roles based on operational needs, seniority bidding, or management direction.
- Perform a wide range of bargaining unit job functions to support plant operations and workforce flexibility.
- Monitor product quality and make real-time decisions when necessary to address quality concerns and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 standards.
- Contribute to workplace safety and operational excellence by engaging in near-miss reporting and improvement programs.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy production environment preferred.
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to work in various roles and departments as needed.
- Ability to safely operate industrial equipment, including mobile and heavy machinery.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and address product quality issues.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in situations involving safety or production quality.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise, dust, etc.) typical of a mill environment.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and commitment to following all safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to support multiple departments and work collaboratively with others.
- Reliability and dependability, including good attendance and the ability to respond to changing work assignments.
- Willingness to participate in continuous improvement efforts, including safety and environmental programs.
