Qualification Highlights

• 4+ years’ experience as a Journeyman Rigger/Crane Operator
• 2+ years in supervision positions
• Must possess all Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for the position
• Must pass Zachry Motor vehicles authorization
• Must meet all physical requirements
• Able to work at heights over 300 ft
• Reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Act as safety observer on equipment lifts
• Inspect all rigging equipment
• Plan or assist in the planning of lifts
• Attach loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment
• Tie rope around load for guiding during lifting and positioning
• Signal Equipment Operator during lifts for directional or placement instructions
• Guide load during lift and positioning
• Climb structures to guide and position load
• Assist in connecting or stabilizing load prior to detaching from equipment
• Detach loads and remove rigging equipment
• Place and remove outrigger pads from Cranes and other heavy equipment

Required Qualifications

• Specific knowledge of rigging equipment and their capacities
• Knowledge of required tools and their proper use
• Team player with effective communication skills
• Basic knowledge of heavy industrial construction processes
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to resolve and identify issues, including safety risks
• Knowledge of proper hand signals to communicate with equipment operators
• Knowledge of lift planning, including equipment selection, load capacities, and lifting equipment
• NCCER or NCCCO certification for Rigging (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
• Basic transportation knowledge for moving equipment and loads
• Arithmetic skills required for lift planning
• Willingness to follow all company directives and safety procedures
• Able to work at heights
• Reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee
• Former experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
• Experience working as an Industrial Ironworker
• NCCCO Rigger Certification

Reporting Structure

This position will oversee multiple crews led by foreman supervisors, managing 4+ crews of 5-15 workers each. Foremen will report directly to this role.

Physical Requirements

• Extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting
• Frequent communication through talking and hearing
• Use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using fall protection
• Ability to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate PPE
• Required PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots
