Roles And Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision to Foreman and communicate daily to the Superintendent/Division Manager.
- Communicate daily with Customers and support Superintendent/Division Manager with new customer communication.
- Help support and maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
- Responsible for following and enforcing Company safety policies and procedures as well as customer safety policies and procedures.
- Help support growth and recruit new crews.
- Responsible for assisting the Superintendent/Division Manager with crew make-up and making sure Foreman are aware of company expectations and enforce company policy.
- Before beginning work, become completely familiar with the project’s plans and specifications, schedule, budget and other relevant project documents.
- Make comments and raise questions accordingly so as to minimize any possible misunderstandings.
- Participate in the project turnover process.
- Provide meaningful input into the development of the project schedule and any subsequent updates.
- Determine the sequence and manner in which each phase of the work will be performed, consistent with the Project Manager’s directives.
- Responsible for all supervision of field personnel, including the hiring and termination process with Human Resource support.
- Prepare and update, as necessary, workforce planning documents.
- Prior to beginning work, prepare for management’s approval, a Project Specific Safety Plan as a means of ensuring all Company safety policies and procedures are followed and workplace incidents are minimized to the maximum degree possible.
- Take immediate corrective action whenever necessary to ensure the project’s safety performance is not compromised.
- Prepare, in a timely manner, all required incident and follow-up reports.
- Ensure all work is performed in a quality manner. Any changed conditions or other work issues that may arise are addressed promptly and support from other Company personnel is utilized, when appropriate.
- Provide effective interface with other project personnel while protecting the Company’s interests at all times.
- Follow a “Best Practices” philosophy by being pro-active in making creative, timely and meaningful suggestions as to how best to perform the work so as to maximize cost and schedule efficiencies.
- Responsible for ordering materials and coordinate all deliveries to the work site. Review and approve purchase receipts. Determine the proper type and use of Company-owned and rented equipment. Coordinate field repairs as necessary.
- Prepare and submit, as required of the position, daily and other project-related reports.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly estimates and provide input relative to any pending order requests.
- Promote Company training initiatives and make recommendations as to the progress of assigned field workforce personnel being trained.
- Coordinate approved shop drawings and mark ups with on-going field activities.
- Provide an appropriate interface with applicable unions, if any, and when necessary, communicate immediately to manage any possible labor issues, such as complaints and grievances, needing further attention.
- Maintain a positive liaison with other project related personnel and Company departments as a means of pro-actively supporting all project activities.
Success Factors
- Must be able to multi-task and work in a schedule-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to be a team leader with strong interpersonal and site management skills is a must.
- Working knowledge of computers and applicable programs.
- Experience And Education
- High Schol diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of Ten (10) years project construction experience in related fields.
- Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience as a Foreman.
- Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver License is required.
- Must have a Valid Class A CDL and current medical examiner card.
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to work outdoors in diverse terrain and in all weather conditions.
- Must complete OSHA 10hr Safety Training Program within 60 days.
- Successful completion of appropriate knowledge and skills examinations.
- Compliance with Safety Performance Standards.
- Must have ability for frequent travel on needed training requirements and potential for overtime including storm work.
