General Foreman
Job Summary
The Foreman will manage fiber splicing teams and collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure projects are completed safely, meeting all customer deadlines, commitments, and quality standards. This role is remote, working at various Oracle sites across the US.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Accountable for safety, quality, schedule, and cost on assigned projects
- Lead and perform single splicing, mass fusion splicing, and testing operations on bulk/high count fiber optic cables
- Lead and perform splicing and testing operations on live carrier networks
- Serve as the main point of contact between the Project Manager and crew members
- Manage 4-6 crew members on a day-to-day basis
- Understand and adhere to customer timelines
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with company and customer standards
- Prepare closeout documentation for each phase of the job as completed
- Coordinate and communicate activities with other employees, departments, and management
- Hold daily meetings before beginning work
- Maintain company issued equipment including vehicles, tools, and specific job-related equipment
Job Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
- Knowledge of basic tools, construction practices, and communication networks
- Knowledge of cable installation practices, dressing cables, lacing, terminating, etc.
- Knowledge of Exfo and Anritsu test equipment
- Knowledge of fiber optic cable types, make-up, and manufacturer specifications to prevent damage
- Knowledge of mass fusion splicing equipment such as Fujikura 70R and 90R
- Knowledge of cable testing procedures and test equipment
- Knowledge of inside plant and outside plant safety measures
- Knowledge of data center security processes and adherence to their measures
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft applications
- Pay close attention to detail and make good sound decisions based on information given
- Ability to read blueprints and splice diagrams
- Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Experience with overhead and underfloor conveyance
- Structured cabling installations
- Fiber optic splicing, testing, and documentation
- Copper termination and patching
- Rack/row placement and equipment staging
- Support for tenant fit-outs and core & shell construction activities
Education and Experience
- Must obtain at least a high school diploma/GED
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience such as: similar industry or job experience with similar essential duties
- Field of Study: Data Center, Telecommunications, Construction, or Project Management
