Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and conceptual design documents to develop preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed cost proposals.
- Perform quantity takeoffs across multiple trades, including structural, architectural, and general conditions, adjusting detail based on design phase.
- Support preconstruction efforts including cost modeling, alternates, value engineering, and budget reconciliation throughout design development.
- Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure scope alignment and competitive pricing.
- Prepare RFIs, review addenda, and incorporate revisions into evolving estimates and proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, senior estimators, and owners to support project handoff, buyout, and early procurement strategies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three to seven (3–7+) years of commercial construction estimating or preconstruction experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred)
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, and other construction-related software platforms for estimating purposes
- Experience developing estimates for mid- to large-scale commercial projects valued between $12–$50 million
- Strong understanding of construction systems, materials, and sequencing across multiple trades
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and evolving design documents
- Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers in a competitive bid environment
Skills
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and solution-focused
- Adaptable and comfortable shifting between project types and levels of estimate details
- Proficiency with digital takeoff and estimating software (preferred)
- Broad estimating experience across multiple trades
- Solid communication, planning, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with healthcare, institutional, or complex commercial projects (preferred)

$75,000–$100,000 annually (DOE)
