About the role
As a General Engineer (Recent Grad), you will participate in the BPA engineering rotation program, completing assignments in at least two different functional areas. You will also modify standard practices, adapt equipment or techniques to solve engineering problems, and adapt guidelines to address ecological or aesthetic factors.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the BPA engineering rotation program.
- Complete assignments in at least two different functional areas.
- Modify standard practices and adapt equipment or techniques to solve engineering problems.
- Adapt, modify, or compromise with guidelines to address ecological or aesthetic factors.
- Plan and carry out engineering studies, analyses, and calculations for the solution of problems associated with the overall planning, design, or operation of a high-voltage power generation and transmission system.
- Design and layout plans for systems and equipment.
- Perform design and engineering functions for older or well-established systems and equipment when new requirements or changed requirements are imposed.
Requirements
Conditions of employment include responding to four short, free-response essay questions in the questionnaire, and a preliminary background check must be completed before starting work. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and complete at least one year of continuous service to be eligible for conversion to a term or permanent position.
Qualifications
- Education: Engineering degree from a school accredited by ABET, or equivalent coursework.
- Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service.
