General Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Develop overall DLA policy and oversee execution of Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM) projects.
• Oversee planning, programming, execution, completion, and acceptance of SRM projects.
• Apply expert knowledge of planning, programming, budgeting, and execution principles and procedures.
• Utilize funding sources such as Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Defense Working Capital Fund (DWCF), Military Construction (MILCON), Family Housing (FH), and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) accounts.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise as project manager for assigned SRM fuel and non‑fuel facilities.
• Advise DLA representatives responding to OSD and Congressional committees with oversight of assigned SRM projects.
• Serve as a functional expert in DoD facilities‑management systems, including the DLA Enterprise Business System Real Property Solution and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Sustainment Management Systems (SMS).
• Act as DLA Subject Matter Expert across real‑property functional areas, emphasizing maintenance, repair, and construction projects.

Qualifications

Basic Education Requirement: A bachelor’s degree or higher in professional engineering from a program accredited by ABET, or a program that includes differential and integral calculus and advanced courses in at least five of the following areas: statics/dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics/hydraulics, thermodynamics, electrical fields and circuits, material properties, or comparable engineering science (e.g., optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, electronics).

Alternative Education Paths (must be combined with experience):

• College‑level education, training, and/or technical experience providing thorough knowledge of physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering and a solid understanding of engineering sciences and techniques.
• Professional registration or licensure (Engineer Intern/EI, Engineer in Training/EIT, or Professional Engineer/PE) in any U.S. state, D.C., Guam, or Puerto Rico.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration.
• At least 60 semester hours of courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences meeting the curriculum described above.
• Related curriculum (e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, geology) with at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision.

Specialized Experience (must be at GS‑12 level or equivalent for GS‑13 appointment):

• One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties of this position, providing technical advice on SRM program processes and evaluating facility needs from a life‑cycle cost perspective.
• Experience may include paid, unpaid, or volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) that builds relevant competencies.
