About the role
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a General Engineer- GS-0801-12 to support NORAD & USNORTHCOM, Peterson SFB, Colorado Springs, CO. This is a Term position Not to Exceed 3 years; the individual selected for this position may be extended without further competition. Current Federal civilian employees may apply, and if selected, a break in service of at least 3 calendar days may be required prior to appointment to this position.
Responsibilities
- Shape the future of critical defense infrastructure at NORAD & USNORTHCOM
- Lead diverse facility and utility projects from concept to completion
- Manage design, construction, and renovations
- Apply expertise across civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering
- Support mission-critical operations
- Directly support mission-critical operations
Requirements
- A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is required.
- Knowledge of a broad range of engineering and construction standards, methods, practices, and techniques.
- Knowledge of automated data processing concepts, systems capabilities, and economic usage.
- Ability to plan, conduct and record site/facilities surveys and inspections.
- Ability to plan and organize work and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and architects.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain good working relationships.
Qualifications
- Education requirements: A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is required.
- Current Federal civilian employees may apply, and if selected, a break in service of at least 3 calendar days may be required prior to appointment to this position.
- Work may require employee to drive a government motor vehicle due to frequent travel to and from Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station.
- A valid driver's license is required for this position.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations in performance of temporary duty (TDY).
