About the Role

Tripleseat is the leading web-based event management and sales platform designed for restaurants, hotels, and unique venues. Our mission is to simplify and streamline the event planning process, allowing our clients to focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative, innovative work environment that encourages growth and development. Tripleseat is a fast-growing SaaS company powering hospitality event management for thousands of venues across the country, and as we scale toward new markets and strategic milestones, we need a seasoned legal leader who can grow with us. Our General Counsel will be the company's first dedicated legal executive, building the function from the ground up while partnering closely with the CEO and leadership team on the decisions that shape our future. This is a rare opportunity to have genuine ownership and impact at a company with significant momentum.

What You'll Own

  • Serve as the company's primary legal advisor, providing strategic counsel to the CEO, executive team, and board on business, legal, and governance matters
  • Lead and manage all enterprise commercial contracting, including negotiation and execution of customer, vendor, and partner agreements

  • Oversee employment law matters, workplace investigations, and HR legal support across the organization
  • Support board governance, investor relations, and sponsor-related legal needs, including preparation and management of board materials and equity matters
  • Drive M&A, strategic transactions, and exit readiness efforts, including due diligence, deal structuring, and integration support
  • Build and manage relationships with outside counsel, optimizing for quality and cost-efficiency
  • Develop and maintain scalable legal policies, processes, and templates that support company growth
  • Open to leveraging AI-enabled tools and modern legal technology to improve efficiency, scalability, and decision-making within the legal function

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years of legal experience, with a combination of law firm and in-house roles preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise negotiating and managing complex enterprise commercial contracts, including SaaS agreements, MSAs, and data processing agreements
  • Deep knowledge of privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable regulations, with experience advising product and engineering teams
  • Experience handling employment law matters, including investigations, separation agreements, and day-to-day HR legal support
  • Familiarity with board governance, equity management, and investor or sponsor reporting requirements
  • Hands-on experience with M&A transactions, including due diligence, deal execution, and a working understanding of exit processes
  • Ability to move quickly and make sound decisions with limited resources, building legal infrastructure thoughtfully and efficiently
  • Strong communicator who translates complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance for non-legal stakeholders
  • Track record of working cross-functionally and serving as a trusted partner to business teams, not just a gatekeeper
  • Proactive approach to identifying legal risks and surfacing them early, before they become problems
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by the opportunity to define and build a function
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing required
