General Counsel

For our client, we are seeking a General Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Business Services space. This role will serve as a strategic legal partner to executive leadership, helping guide corporate governance, commercial activity, and enterprise risk in a fast-paced business services environment. The position will also lead legal oversight of litigation, employment matters, and contract management while supporting the organization’s broader operational and compliance objectives. In addition, the General Counsel will help build scalable legal processes that support efficiency and informed decision-making across the enterprise. Location: Columbia, SC - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $200,000 annually Responsibilities Serve as a trusted legal advisor to executive leadership on corporate initiatives and governance Lead legal oversight of commercial transactions, including drafting and negotiating agreements Direct the organization's legal strategy for litigation and manage external legal counsel Partner with HR on complex employment matters and compliance issues Provide guidance on corporate governance and Board activities Lead enterprise risk management by identifying and mitigating legal risks Establish scalable contract governance frameworks to enhance operational efficiency Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school Active membership in good standing with at least one state bar, preferably South Carolina 5+ years of legal experience in commercial contracts, business law, litigation management, and employment law Strong professional legal network for accessing external counsel and industry experts Proven experience advising executive leadership and business stakeholders Ability to thrive in a fast-paced corporate environment with strong collaboration skills Expert understanding of legal and regulatory landscapes with a successful risk mitigation track record Benefits Health Benefits (Medical, Dental & Vision) Tuition Reimbursement Program Short & Long-term disability Life Insurance Flexible Spending Account (Section 125) Matching 401K retirement plan Career advancement opportunities Bonus opportunities Generous PTO Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
