General Counsel

Location: Menlo Park, CA – US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000 annually.

This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. Responsibilities

• Define and implement legal and compliance strategy aligned with business objectives
• Advise executive leadership on legal, regulatory, and governance issues
• Guide corporate governance, transactions, and restructurings
• Oversee negotiation of complex commercial agreements
• Drive regulatory engagement strategy across multiple jurisdictions
• Manage compliance programs related to AML, data privacy, and consumer protection
• Hire and develop legal and compliance teams, promoting cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree and active bar membership
• 12+ years of legal experience, particularly in fintech and cryptocurrency
• Substantial in-house leadership experience in a global organization
• Expertise in commercial transactions and negotiating complex agreements
• Strong knowledge of global regulatory frameworks affecting blockchain and fintech
• Experience managing multi-jurisdictional legal matters across the U.S., Canada, and Europe
• Proven ability to build and scale legal frameworks, policies, and processes
