About the role

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in clean, sanitary and orderly condition and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Responsibilities

  • High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, begin cleaning in a counter‑clockwise direction around the room — high dust surfaces above shoulder height (lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, ledges). Gently brush the high duster in a downward direction into the service cart to clean it.
  • Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, work counter‑clockwise around the room sanitizing surfaces below shoulder height (ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops, trash cans). Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls with proper solution. Spot clean windows.
  • Bathroom Cleaning: Using germicidal solution, wipe down in order: above and below sink; toilet seat and outside of toilet bowl; inside of toilet with a Johnnie Mop and proper germicidal solution, attending to the rim. Clean and check soap and paper dispensers daily; refill as needed.
  • Empty Trash Cans: If liquid is inside, remove liner and wipe trash can; place a clean liner.
  • Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Using a treated dust mophead, start at the back of the room with an “S” stroke to catch dust on the leading edge. Dust under all furniture and in restrooms, stopping just inside the door. Clean mophead with counter brush (downward stroke), sweep dust onto dustpan, dispose into service cart. When vacuuming, start at the back and work toward the door, getting under chairs and furniture.
  • Grounds Care (outside areas, several times daily):
    • Empty and clean ash urns and trash cans.
    • Police sidewalks, flower beds, and curb line for trash and cigarette butts.
    • Spot clean spills on sidewalk; remove gum with scraper.

  • Floor Sanitizing: Using proper germicidal solution, start at the back of the room; mop under furniture and behind doors as you back out.
  • Inspection: After completing a room, mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement; make corrections to prevent problems/complaints.
  • Daily High‑Traffic Areas: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, wall spotting, and high dusting are done daily.
  • Customer Relations & Service:
