About the role

Perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings and facilities to keep them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Responsibilities

  • High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean in a counter‑clockwise direction around the room — dust surfaces above shoulder height (lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, ledges). Clean the high duster by gently brushing downward into the service cart.
  • Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, work counter‑clockwise around the room sanitizing surfaces below shoulder height (ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, trash cans). Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls. Spot‑clean windows with proper solution.
  • Bathroom Cleaning: Using germicidal solution, wipe down in order: above and below sink; toilet seat and outside of toilet bowl; inside of toilet with a Johnnie Mop and germicidal solution, paying attention to the rim. Clean and check soap and paper dispensers daily; refill as needed.
  • Empty Trash Cans: If liquid is present, remove liner and wipe the can; place a clean liner.
  • Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Using a treated dust mop, start at the back of the room with an “S” stroke to catch dust on the leading edge; dust under all furniture and in restrooms, stopping just inside the door. Clean the mop head with a counter brush (downward stroke) and sweep dust into a dustpan for disposal in the service cart. When vacuuming, start at the back and work toward the door, getting under chairs and other furniture.
  • Grounds Care — Outside Areas: Clean and check several times daily: empty and clean ash urns and trash cans; police sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash and cigarette butts; spot‑clean spills on sidewalks; remove gum with scraper; wipe benches and vending machines; wipe lower window ledges; high‑dust for dust and cobwebs; clean public‑area glass as needed; police parking lot for trash.
  • Public Common Areas: Dust‑mop and spot‑mop main hallways. Ensure glass is cleaned several times daily; planters are clean and free of bird waste inside and out; check for cobwebs and high‑dust window areas at least twice per week; inspect all corners and edges for dirt, cobwebs, and debris.
  • Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables; place chairs back under tables; spot‑clean spills; empty and clean trash cans; remove accumulated dirty trays to wash room and clean using tray power washer; stack clean trays on shelf for reuse; police outside eating areas.
  • Floor Sanitizing: Using proper germicidal solution, start at the back of the room; mop under furniture and behind doors while backing out.
  • Inspection: After completing a room, mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement; make corrections to prevent problems or complaints. Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, wall spotting, and high dusting are done daily.
  • Customer Relations and Service: Knock lightly before entering occupied rooms; be friendly and cheerful; answer questions helpfully or refer to someone who can; report broken or out‑of‑order items to supervisor; work and speak quietly; reduce or eliminate noise; stay in assigned area unless directed otherwise; maintain clean, neat personal appearance; report unfinished work to supervisor at shift end; always be courteous.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor or Account Manager, including but not limited to floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto‑scrub and buffing).
