Evaluations and Assessments

Evaluates and assesses overall operations of organization by reviewing assistance and investigation activity in such areas as resource utilization, military leadership, training, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the office expert and authority for all functions related to IG assistance.
• Maintains close contact and working relationship with the other 195 inspectors general in theater, and uses them as an IG network to assist in resolution of cases.
• Serves as the office's primary investigator, and personally assembles, or assigns and supervises other members to assemble, with short or no notice, inquiry and investigation plans for a broad range of allegations.
• Receives all cases, conducts preliminary analysis, and determines whether the office should accept the case.
• Analyzes facts obtained from witnesses, regulations, policies, and other evidentiary sources and determines whether witness testimony and the preponderance of the evidence confirm or deny allegations.

Requirements

• Conditions of employment: Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET SCI clearance as a condition of employment and must complete a counterintelligence scope polygraph exam.
• Drug Testing: Must complete the DoD Joint Inspector General Certification Course or equivalent, either before or after entering on duty, as well as other required DoD training that is specific to the IG community, either before or after entering duty.
• Cyber Qualifications: Must meet NSA personnel security requirements outlined in NSA/CSS Policy 5-1 and complete the DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance for Cyber work roles.

Qualifications

• Experience: One-year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.
• Education: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
