WJLA 7 News in the nation's capital is looking for a driven, dedicated reporter who wants to make a difference in the most important market in the world. This newsroom prides itself on putting bad guys behind bars, influencing law and policy, being a voice for the voiceless, and holding the powerful to account.

Responsibilities

  • Bring a block, enterprise pitches to the table every day.
  • Stay informed about what's going on in the market and the world at large, both online and in real life.
  • Tell a great story on any platform, from live breaking news to a quick VOSOT, social post, web piece, or in-depth interview.
  • Work in a 24-hour news environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Develop sources and relationships in the community, local government, law enforcement, and industry.
  • Uphold journalistic ethics, objectivity, and public trust.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work well as a team member.
  • Strive to win and grow as a reporter and storyteller.
  • Be comfortable with challenging feedback and strict deadlines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of on-air reporting experience in a commercial newsroom.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or a related field.

Pay

The hourly compensation range for this role is $43.27 to $53.45. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
