About the role

This role requires a General Adjuster to manage the resolution of first and third-party claim exposures from both a coverage, investigative, and loss establishment perspective. The role involves receiving and reviewing claim intake daily, visiting insureds to investigate causes and extent of losses, and communicating effectively with policyholders, claimants, and witnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and review claim intake daily.
  • Contact insurer, broker, and claimant to arrange appointments for first meetings.
  • Visit insureds to investigate causes, circumstances, extent of loss, and damage.
  • Review policy coverage and raise questions with insurers, recommending resolutions.
  • Consult with construction contractors, engineers, and other experts to determine damages.
  • Timely report to clients with clear and comprehensive content.
  • Communicate effectively with policyholders, claimants, witnesses, independent and field adjusters.
  • Effectively manage claims and liaise with insureds, insurers, brokers, retained experts, etc.
  • Prepare scope of damage, loss measure, and costs schedule.
  • Cookordinate cost agreements with insureds and claimants.
  • Bring matters to a timely, equitable resolution in accordance with Coverage and/or Liability findings.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of commercial/residential property claims experience.
  • A 4-year college degree.
  • An appropriate state adjuster license(s).
  • Regional claims experience.
  • Experience handling complex commercial losses preferred.
  • Established Broker/Carrier relationships.
  • Some experience with commercial and residential ISO policies to include manuscript interpretations.
  • Knowledge of Xactimate or other estimating platforms.
  • Knowledge of the independent claims adjusting business to include familiarity with local jurisdictional requirements and claim practices.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize.
