General Accountant
About the role
Peterson is a family-owned business with over 85 years of experience shaping communities through infrastructure and service. As a General Accountant, you will play a crucial part in maintaining financial records and supporting the company's strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and review Equipment Inventory Registers
- Aid in month-end closing, journal entries, and financial analysis
- Control general and subsidiary ledgers
- Review and reconcile general ledger accounts and reports
- Update Inventory detail, DBS, and CDK as needed
- Analyze and report Gross Profit compared to prior year
- Prepare audit work documentation and assist auditors
- Resolve operating statement problems and make adjustments
- Perform ad hoc analyses/reports as needed
- Participate in special Six Sigma projects
- Stay updated on accounting developments and recommend improvements
- Collaborate with colleagues to solve problems and improve processes
- Communicate effectively and maintain a positive attitude under pressure
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Business or technical field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of three years of directly related accounting experience, preferably in a heavy industrial setting
- AS400 experience is a plus
Salary
$82,674 - $93,009 annually
