About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is a company dedicated to breaking down language and cultural barriers. We employ interpreters to help limited-English speakers, the Deaf, and the Hard-of-Hearing communicate effectively. Our interpreters work remotely from their homes, providing services in various industries including healthcare, law enforcement, and finance.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate interpretations of conversations between Gen and English speakers.
• Adapt to different accents and dialects to ensure clear communication.
• Provide cultural sensitivity and handle sensitive topics like end-of-life conversations and sexual orientation.
• Work in a variety of industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law enforcement.

Requirements

• Fluency in Gen and English.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations.
• At least 18 years old.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Access to a quiet workspace and reliable internet connection.
• Ability to operate a computer and keyboard.

Qualifications

• Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation.
• Skilled in adapting to LLS technology enhancements.
• Commitment to cultural sensitivity and diversity.

Pay

$1.25 - $1.40 per minute.

Schedule

This is a remote position where interpreters work from their home offices. A quiet and secure environment is essential.

• Able to operate a keyboard and mouse for long periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• May be exposed to moderate noise levels.

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• Desktop/Laptop computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS operating systems.
• Tablets (iPadOS or Android).
• Smartphones (iOS or Android).
• Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware.
• High-speed internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, ping value of no more than 300 ms, and jitter value of no more than 30 ms.
• Quiet workspace free from background noise or distractions.
