Pay
New hires: $16.39/hr (entry level rate). Current employees in the bargaining unit: refer to the salary schedule established by the applicable bargaining group.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with teachers in MTSS to assist in the success of all students
- Teach, model, and support PBIS in all building situations
- Work with students in skills room
- Work with ALL students, including those with diverse needs
- Use computer skills to input data into student data system and manipulate spreadsheets
- With classroom teachers, establish a positive learning environment while maintaining a structured setting
- Assist with and support classroom teacher with instruction
- Work collaboratively with teachers using developmentally appropriate practices, including following teacher's direction for instruction
- Assist teacher in monitoring students' progress by keeping necessary records and giving feedback as requested
- Work with students in a positive manner to develop and/or enhance the practice of self-discipline
- Resolve conflicts and communicate with students in a non-threatening and friendly manner
- Maintain patience and positive interpersonal skills with all students
- Walk hallways during class time and/or during passing time, reporting any issues to office staff
- Communicate with instructional staff daily regarding instruction and student issues
- Other duties as assigned by building administrator
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students
- Good attendance and punctuality
- Skilled in and understands MTSS or willingness to be trained
- Skilled in and understands PBIS or willingness to be trained
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Must be able to walk for extended periods
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs
Qualifications
- Good attendance is a must for success in this position
- Flexibility due to changes in schedule and student population
- Experience working with at-risk students is a plus
- Proven track record of building rapport with culturally diverse students and their families to ensure each student reaches full academic potential
