Pay

New hires: $16.39/hour (entry-level rate). Current employees in the bargaining unit: refer to the salary schedule established by the applicable bargaining group.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with teachers in MTSS to assist in the success of all students
  • Teach, model, and support PBIS in all building situations
  • Work with students in skills room
  • Work with ALL students, including those with diverse needs
  • Use computer skills to input data into student data system and manipulate spreadsheets
  • With classroom teachers, establish a positive learning environment while maintaining a structured setting
  • Assist with and support classroom teacher with instruction
  • Work collaboratively with teachers using developmentally appropriate practices, including following teacher's direction for instruction
  • Assist teacher in monitoring students' progress by keeping necessary records and giving feedback as requested
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work with students in a positive manner to develop and/or enhance the practice of self-discipline
  • Resolve conflicts and communicate with students in a non-threatening and friendly manner
  • Maintain patience and positive interpersonal skills with all students
  • Walk hallways during class time and/or during passing time, reporting any issues to office staff
  • Communicate with instructional staff daily regarding instruction and student issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building administrator

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students
  • Good attendance and punctuality
  • Understands and utilizes MTSS or willingness to be trained
  • Understands and utilizes PBIS or willingness to be trained
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to walk for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs

Qualifications

  • Good attendance is a must for success in this position
  • Flexibility due to changes in schedule and student population
  • Experience working with at-risk students is a plus
  • Proven track record of building rapport with culturally diverse students and their families to ensure each student reaches full academic potential
