Gemstar Manufacturing Specialist - 2nd Shift

About the role
The Manufacturing Specialist performs various tasks requiring operation of hand tools, manufacturing machinery, and 5 and 3 axis routers. Responsibilities include secondary and finishing operations, CRD/Ext/Assembly functions, and ensuring all quality and inspection criteria are met. This role is part of a positive, people-first culture focused on leveraging team strengths to bring customer products to life.
Responsibilities
- Reviews work orders to determine tasks to be performed.
- Cuts sheet stock and blanks to correct size as indicated by prints.
- Loads and unloads forming machines, ensuring no damage to molds and parts.
- Sets up and operates 5 and 3 axis routers, including cutting, drilling, and finishing products; may assist in programming the router.
- Makes adjustments to routing processes and inspects initial products against blueprints for compliance.
- Reads blueprints to ensure products meet company quality standards and customer expectations.
- Completes finishing work for parts, including drilling, routing, cutting, assembling, sanding, and gluing.
- Scrapes and sands rough edges from parts to ensure they are clean and free from scratches or foreign material.
- Performs general maintenance on department equipment, such as oiling, greasing, and cleaning.
- May operate Robomold equipment as needed to support business needs.
- Performs duties in a safe manner, following approved safety procedures.
- Complies with ISO standards and Gemstar’s quality management system.
- Maintains effective working relationships with fellow employees and keeps the department neat and orderly.
Requirements
- High degree of mechanical aptitude and good attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work in multiple areas based on company needs.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- English reading skills at the 6th grade level or above.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing experience.
Skills
- Operation of hand tools and manufacturing machinery.
- Setup and operation of 5 and 3 axis routers.
- Blueprint reading and quality inspection.
- Secondary operations (drilling, routing, cutting, assembling, sanding, gluing).
- Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Pay
USD $21.30 - $27.92 per hour (includes a 10% shift premium for 2nd shift).
Schedule
- Full-time, on-site.
- 5/8-hour days, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM (Monday through Friday).
- Overtime scheduled as needed.
