Gelcoat Technician - Sprayer

About the role

The Gelcoat position applies gel coat to production hull and deck molds, liners, and small parts using hand-operated spray equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-spray check of spray equipment and material to ensure proper operation and appropriate color.
• Performs final cleaning of mold surfaces with a tack cloth.
• Operates spray gun to apply various coats of gel coat to the molds, ensuring correct measurements and percentages of coverage.
• Maintains daily cleaning and minor maintenance routines on the spray guns.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and hazard-free work area.

Qualifications

• Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Versatility in using various pistol grip type spray guns, hand tools, and spray pump systems.
• Ability to identify colors and shades accurately.

• Various pistol grip type spray guns
• Hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers and utility knives
• Spray pump systems
• Identify colors and shades

Physical Requirements

• Help push molds into booth
• Available to withstand high heat and humidity
• Detail manipulation of hands and fingers
• Pass a respirator test and wear PPE such as safety glasses with side shields, Tyvek suit
• Light lifting, under 20 lbs.
• Moderate lifting, 21-59 lbs.
• Moderate carrying, 21 – 59 lbs.
