Gear Inspector

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Gear Inspector to join our team in Roscoe, IL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing thorough inspections of gears to ensure they meet strict quality and dimensional standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform 1st piece inspection and sample inspections to verify compliance with specifications.
• Conduct functional testing and size verification of gears using precision measuring instruments.
• Carry out visual inspections to detect surface defects or irregularities.
• Utilize calipers, micrometers, gages, and basic Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for accurate measurements.
• Apply basic shop math and geometry principles to interpret drawings and measurement data.
• Understand and work within tight tolerances to ensure product quality.
• Operate vari-roll testing fixtures to assess gear performance and functionality.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and communicate findings to production and quality teams.

Required Skills And Qualifications

• Experience with 1st piece and sample inspection processes.
• Proficient in functional testing and size verification techniques.
• Strong visual inspection skills with attention to detail.
• Hands-on experience using calipers, micrometers, gages, and basic CMM equipment.
• Knowledge of basic shop math and geometry relevant to gear inspection.
• Familiarity with basic materials knowledge related to gear manufacturing.
• Ability to work with tight tolerances and maintain high quality standards.
• Experience operating vari-roll testing fixtures is a plus.
• Good communication skills and ability to document inspection results accurately.

This position is based in our manufacturing facility located in Roscoe, IL. The role involves working closely with production and quality assurance teams to ensure the highest standards of gear quality are met.
