GDOT CADD Support Consultant

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Office of Design & Policy Support is seeking a CADD Support Consultant to assist with the support, implementation, development, testing, and administration of Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software and engineering workspaces. The selected candidate will provide technical support to GDOT personnel, assist with software deployments, develop best practices and documentation, support user training initiatives, and help evaluate emerging CADD technologies that improve engineering and transportation design operations. This role will primarily support Bentley OpenRoads Designer and Bentley OpenBridge Modeler, while also providing support for legacy environments including Bentley InRoads, MicroStation SS2, CAiCE, and Bentley MicroStation. Key Responsibilities CADD Software Support Provide day-to-day support for GDOT engineering and design personnel. Troubleshoot software and workspace issues submitted through the ServiceNow ticketing system. Assist users with installation, configuration, and setup of CADD software. Support external user workspace installations and updates. Resolve technical issues related to engineering design applications and workspaces. Software Development & Implementation Support Assist in the development, testing, validation, and implementation of CADD software solutions. Support deployment of new software versions, workspace updates, and standards implementation. Participate in software evaluation, testing, and quality assurance activities. Collaborate with engineering, design, and technical teams to ensure successful software adoption. Documentation & Business Process Improvement Document and revise current and future business processes related to engineering design workflows. Create and maintain: Best Practices Documentation How-To Guides Workflow Documentation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Workspace Configuration Documentation Analyze and improve engineering software usage across the organization. Training & User Enablement Assist with development of training materials and instructional content. Conduct or support CADD software training sessions as needed. Support user onboarding and adoption of new software tools and standards. Provide guidance regarding effective use of GDOT workspaces and engineering software. Technology Evaluation & Standards Development Research and evaluate emerging CADD technologies. Recommend software enhancements, improvements, and implementation strategies. Assist in maintaining GDOT engineering software standards. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through software, automation, and process improvements. Required Qualifications 2–4 years of experience documenting and revising business processes related to CADD software implementation and support. 2–4 years of experience supporting development, testing, and implementation of CADD software. 2–4 years of hands-on experience working with CADD software including: Bentley OpenRoads Designer Bentley OpenBridge Modeler Bentley InRoads Bentley MicroStation SS2 Bentley MicroStation CAiCE Experience providing technical support and troubleshooting software-related issues. Ability to create process documentation and workflow guidance. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with ServiceNow or similar ticket management systems. 3+ years of programming or scripting experience utilizing: Python (Strongly Preferred) Visual Basic (Preferred) Preferred Qualifications Public sector, transportation, or government agency experience. Transportation engineering or civil engineering background. Experience developing engineering software standards and best practices. Experience conducting software training and knowledge transfer activities. Experience automating engineering workflows using scripting languages. Experience evaluating and implementing emerging engineering software technologies. Familiarity with engineering design standards and transportation infrastructure projects.
