About the role
The Gate Screener will be responsible for the fan screening process before and during baseball games and other events at American Family Field. This position supports providing a higher level of security to guests, property, and personnel and limits risks of liability.
Responsibilities
- Follow all aspects of fan security screening as outlined in Major League Baseball’s Best Practices bulletin during games and other events that require fan screening
- Perform bag screening while guests enter American Family Field
- Operate and monitor walk-through metal detectors and handheld metal detectors professionally to manufacturer and industry standards
- Greet and monitor fans entering the screening area in a polite manner, making the experience as pleasant as possible
- Observe fans entering the screening area, identify prohibited items, and ensure those items do not enter the ballpark
- Interact with fans with a positive attitude using good communication skills
- May be designated for special assignments in areas eligible for special pay on an as needed basis: Process credentials and access for media members and guests at American Family Field in dock entrance(s)
- Monitor Brewers social media software in command center and report necessary information gathered
- Early entry employee screening
Requirements
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Experience with crowd control at a major sports venue preferred
- Background or training in criminal justice a plus
Qualifications
- Must be available to attend training sessions, stadium tours and other events, as necessary, prior to beginning of the baseball season
- Must be available to work weekdays, weeknights, and weekends during baseball season
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Willing to learn and use programs on your computer and/or mobile phone to submit availability and complete necessary employment training

Pay
Maximum of 30 hours per week
Schedule
Hours vary according to the game and event schedule. Gate Screeners are typically expected to arrive two (2) hours prior to game time and average shifts can be up to five (5) hours; employees may be requested to work additional hours including concerts on occasion.
