Gastroenterology Physician

About the role

Join a leading academic GI team at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital near Boulder. Positions available for General and Advanced Gastroenterologists (ERCP/EUS) with faculty appointment through the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Help shape a new GI program (3 General GIs and 2 Advanced GIs being hired).

Responsibilities

• Perform endoscopy procedures (6 half‑days per week in Year 1, 5‑6 half‑days in Year 2)
• Provide outpatient clinic care (2 half‑days per week in Year 1, 2‑3 half‑days in Year 2)
• Teach, mentor, and pursue research in an academic environment
• Participate in call (approximately 8 weeks per year)
• Option to take on site leadership and program development roles

Requirements

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible gastroenterologist
• Fellowship‑trained in gastroenterology
• For Advanced GI role: experience and competence in ERCP and EUS
• For General GI role: solid core GI clinical skills

Qualifications

• Active Colorado medical license (or eligibility)
• Ability to obtain faculty appointment at University of Colorado School of Medicine
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for teaching and mentorship

Skills

• Therapeutic endoscopy, including diagnostic and interventional procedures
• ERCP and EUS (for Advanced GI applicants)
• Clinical gastroenterology outpatient management
• Academic teaching and research

Pay

$500,000 – $700,000 per year (with base salary and productivity bonuses noted as $550K–$600K+).

Schedule

• Call: approximately 8 weeks per year, starting day 1
• Year 1: 6 half‑days endoscopy + 2 half‑days clinic per week
• Year 2 onward: 5‑6 half‑days endoscopy + 2‑3 half‑days clinic per week
• Flexibility to adjust clinical vs. endoscopic focus as program grows
