To provide independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy) as defined by standardized procedures or independently based on licensure. This may include non-invasive or invasive procedures, surgical procedures, including operative first assist per approved standardized procedures. Patient management decisions are independent where appropriate after assessment of the patient and interdependent with consultation with an attending or other member of the team.

NPs are expected to act as an expert resource person for health care providers including nurses, residents, and other ancillary staff. Provides patient care in a team-based care environment to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills and accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

  • 90% - Clinical Practice: Provide outpatient clinic follow-up support for IBD, hepatology, motility, general GI, and advanced endoscopy in the Division of Gastroenterology, allowing GI physicians to increase access to new patients and procedures.
  • 10% - Other Professional Activity

Requirements

  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
  • California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License
  • California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
  • National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area
  • Graduation with a master’s degree, DNP, or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
  • One (1) year or greater experience as a nurse practitioner
  • One (1) year or greater recent clinical experience in GI
  • Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Judgment skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
  • Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
  • Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider
  • Ability to work and travel to some primary care locations – Elk Grove, Folsom, and Rocklin

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year or greater recent clinical experience in specialty care of the hiring department

Pay

$92.07-$121.51 per hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
