Gasoline Engine Mechanic (#013951) Vehicle Maintenance, Columbia (RICHLAND)

About the role

Under general supervision, performs repair and maintenance service for agency’s vehicle and equipment fleet. Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to assess needed repair and maintenance.
• Supervise inmate workers and provide hands-on training in the automotive repair field.
• Perform after-hours vehicle recovery services on an on-call basis.
• Assist in maintaining tool, material, equipment, and supply inventories at the vehicle maintenance facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Experience in repair and maintenance of gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Formal training in the use of electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and performing repairs/maintenance on gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Experience with parts inventory and the use of electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of employment.
