Gas Power Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing the products within the gas power portfolio. This role involves working across various stages of the product lifecycle, from initial design to field issue resolution. The engineer will ensure technical excellence, safety, and performance of mechanical components through advanced analysis, innovative design, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products.
• Develop conceptual knowledge of the professional discipline; may include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in a broad area.
• Apply general business knowledge developed through education or past experience; understand how work of own team contributes to the area.
• Resolve issues using established procedures; consult supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside defined instructions/parameters.
• Collaborate with others to solve issues; for customer‑facing roles, develop strong customer relationships and serve as the interface between customer and GE.
• Exchange technical information, ask questions, and check for understanding.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
• 0‑1 years of previous intern / co‑op experience.
