Gas Metering Specialist to Senior Gas Metering Specialist

About the role

The Gas Metering Specialist position at Unitil provides engineering and technical support for gas metering, instrumented metering construction requirements, best practices, metering procedures, metering inventory and testing, and regulatory requirements. This role also manages the implementation of advanced technologies such as Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Automated Meter Reading (AMR), and all metering communication systems. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of gas metering systems and the ability to manage complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering and technical support in all aspects of gas metering, including tie point metering.
• Ensures vendors comply with metering specifications and that projects are completed within budget expectations and on time.
• Analyzes gas meter test results and provides monthly metering metrics reports.
• Collaborates with various departments to ensure best metering business processes and practices are utilized.
• Develops and maintains scope, schedules, and budgets for personnel, materials, and other resources as required to ensure the timely completion of customer service requests and budgeted projects.
• Oversees the analysis and resolution of complex and difficult problems, participating in cross-functional teams to develop strategies and solutions to key business challenges.
• Collaborates on the development and implementation of new systems, processes, and procedures to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Develops and implements new metering procedures and provides training to metering personnel.
• Be available for response to metering issues and respond to system emergencies as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Gas Engineering or equivalent years of experience in gas metering technology or directly related positions (10 years).
• Senior Gas Metering Specialist: Bachelor’s Degree in technical field (Electrical, Electronic, Computer or Gas Engineering or equivalent years of experience in gas metering technology or directly related positions or 15 years of technical experience with an associate's degree).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong technical and analytical abilities.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license based on the requirements of the state where the employee resides.
