About the role
The position involves performing activities required to operate, maintain, construct, inspect and survey the gas distribution system. It also includes responding as an emergency first responder to gas leak situations, implementing the company's gas leak program, and capitalizing on unplanned opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, construct, and inspect the gas distribution system in compliance with Federal and State regulations and company policies.
- Perform activities associated with the gas leak program, including conducting annual distribution surveys, winter patrols, and other inspections.
- Respond as an emergency first responder to gas leak situations, assessing and making recommendations to ensure public safety.
- Utilize GIS/GPS mapping software and the gas CMS system in executing tasks related to the gas leak program and damage prevention.
- Test and maintain company equipment such as vehicles, electronics, tools, and materials, and keep required records.
- Work independently in a safe and professional manner, maintaining punctuality, regular attendance, and a good safety record.
- Accept standby on a rotation basis and be available for shifts, overtime, and emergency assignments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of related field experience.
- Reside within a specified geographic area and be available to respond to emergencies within required response times.
- Be in good physical condition, have a good appearance and habits, and exercise courtesy and tact in dealing with customers.
- Have the ability to obtain and retain Operator Qualification (O.Q.) certification based on DOT 49 CFR 192, Subpart N.
- Have the ability to recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions.
- Must have a CDL-A (for First Class) and Driver Qualification File.
Qualifications

Pay
Ultimate rate - $50.34 per hour, for a 40-hour week. Overtime rates in accordance with Agreement. Starting wage will be in accordance with Contract.
Schedule
The normal working hours for this position are in accordance with Article V.
