Gas Control Operator I and II

Responsibilities
Gas Control Operator I: Monitor and control real-time gas system operations. Respond to alarms by investigating and taking appropriate action, including remotely changing pressures and flow rates and dispatching technicians. Collect and analyze operational data including hourly and daily volumes. Generate routine reports and documentation. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving minor issues. Provide support during non-peak hours and as part of a larger team. Manage the Gas Control Hotline 24/7 by answering calls and acting upon requests.
Gas Control Operator II: Build on your gas control experience by monitoring and controlling distribution and transmission pipeline systems, supporting operating strategies, assisting with gas supply and demand activities, and helping guide less experienced team members through more complex situations. Implement operational strategies to optimize gas flow. Provide assistance and guidance to less experienced team members on more complex problems and situations. Assist the supervisor with training new team members. Take an active role in gas supply and demand. Contribute to the development of operational procedures.
Requirements
Gas Control Operator I: High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution. 3 years of experience in natural Gas Control, delivery, supply, and/or energy industry. Solid mathematical ability. Working ability with Microsoft Office. Ability to identify and resolve routine and minimally complex problems logically and in a timely manner. Good interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills to meet and/or exceed customer expectations.
Gas Control Operator II: 1 year as a Gas System Operator I or 4 years of Gas Control experience. In addition to the above, experience working rotating 24-hour shift schedule, good understanding of SCADA components and control equipment, ability to read and understand schematics, working knowledge of D.O.T. requirements relating to natural gas pipelines, and proficient MS Excel skills preferred.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.

Schedule
Shifts are 12 hours x 7 days, and the position requires working varied shifts depending on seasonal, operational or scheduling needs. This department is staffed 24/7. Some overtime is required. Storm duty may be required during and after storms.
Physical Demands/Requirements
Must be able to sit or stand for 12-hour shifts.

Incident Response Assignment
As a Team Member of Peoples Gas, you will be assigned an Incident Response Assignment, receive training related to your role, and may participate in mock drills or exercises simulating various emergency scenarios.
