Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Pick up and dispose of litter from landscape.
  • Drive company vehicles and/or specialized carts to transport materials and equipment as directed.
  • Maintain certifications to operate material handling and aerial lift equipment such as boom and scissor lifts, utility carts, forklift, and pallet jack.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly public and common work area, Exterior Horticulture storage area, and tool room.
  • Report lost or damaged property, equipment and/or tools to manager.
  • Assist with loading, unloading and moving plant material to designated areas.
  • Affix with Gardener II with daily tasks of weeding, pruning, trimming, planting, watering, irrigation repair and applying chemicals.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Properly uses a variety of manual hand tools and equipment such as rakes, loppers, hand saws, pruning shears, shovels, hose, fertilizer spreaders, pesticide sprayers, and hedge shears to complete assigned tasks.
  • Communicate any irrigation, safety, damaged, distressed landscape issues or any other safety hazards to management.
  • Maintain back-stock plant material in holding areas by watering, pruning, dead-heading and weeding.
  • Use two-way radio to communicate while in field.
  • Wash and clean the department vehicles and equipment to maintain a good public image.

Company Standards of Conduct

All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver's License.
  • Any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 2 years of experience in exterior and/or ornamental horticulture.
  • Demonstrated experience in a resort preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating material handling equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of exterior plants, common insects and diseases.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Able to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Able for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
