About the role
Maintain and repair commercial trucks, trailers, and reefer units. Ensure all tasks are performed safely according to corporate policies and laws.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles
- Install or repair electrical systems, including changing batteries and replacing mechanical parts
- Overhaul diesel engines and perform proper preventive maintenance checks
- Examine and adjust protective guards, bolts, and safety devices on trucks
- Interpret work orders and observe/review trucks in operation to identify malfunctions and plan work procedures
- Work weekends and any shift as required
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of experience in diesel/reefer mechanics or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to obtain Type II 609 EPA Certification within one year
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to read, write, and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
- Ability to solve practical problems and communicate effectively in various settings
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Familiarity with industry/technical terms and processes
Skills
- Proficiency with mechanics hand tools, welding equipment, and standard charts
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work
