About the role
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., located in Charleroi, PA.
Responsibilities
- Work safely, following all company safety rules and practices.
- Service, inspect, maintain, and repair the FE fleet, which includes all types of motor vehicles, motorized equipment, and tools.
- Provide emergency road repairs, towing, ferrying, and equipment demonstration.
- Perform physical work under various conditions, including lifting and positioning heavy parts and equipment while working under vehicles or in an upright position.
- Perform general mechanical and electrical repair work on heavy trucks, cars, trailers, and field equipment.
- Work with hydraulics and hydraulic systems.
- Prepare accurate records and reports, both written and electronic.
- Perform storm restoration duties within and outside FirstEnergy Service Company service territory, which may require out-of-town stays and working extended hours any day of the week, including holidays.
Requirements
- Two years of Automotive/Diesel Mechanic trade school or five years of recent full-time experience as a fleet mechanic.
- Experience as a garage mechanic working on large vehicles, including knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods preferred.
- Class A CDL preferred; Class 7 Inspection License preferred but required after six months of employment.
- Must be willing to live within 45 minutes of the Service Center.
